We’re excited to share that Ability Central’s FY 2027–2028 Grant Cycle is officially open!
California nonprofit organizations working to improve communication access, accessibility, and inclusion for people who are Deaf, disabled, and neurodivergent are invited to submit a Letter of Intent for funding.
This two-year grant cycle offers awards ranging from $10,000 to $200,000 for projects running from January 2027 through December 2028. Whether you’re looking to expand a successful program or launch something new, we’d love to hear your ideas.
What We’re Looking to Fund
We’re particularly interested in projects focused on:
Accessible Educational Materials & Environments
Assistive & Digital Accessibility
Communication Access in Public Services
Community Inclusion & Social Participation
These areas reflect the real needs we continue to see across California, and we’re eager to support innovative work that creates lasting change.
A Quick Look at Our Impact

Since 2010, Ability Central has awarded more than $17.2 million through 319 grants to 170 organizations across the state. Every grant represents a partnership with nonprofits doing meaningful work to build more accessible and inclusive communities.
We’re proud of what we’ve accomplished together — and we’re looking forward to supporting the next wave of impactful projects.
How to Apply
The first step is submitting a Letter of Intent (LOI). The deadline is August 31, 2026.
